YOU ONLY GET WHAT YOU’RE ORGANIZED TO TAKE: Harrisburg Book Tour Stop & Local Movement Discussion

Join leaders from Put People First! PA Southcentral PA Healthcare Rights Committee, the PA Poor People's Campaign and Kairos Center leaders, Dr. Reverend Liz Theoharis and Noam Sandweiss-Back to discuss Lessons from the Poor Organizing the Poor, Past and Present, to Take Our Human Rights Today.

Background

Dr. Reverend Liz Theoharis and Noam Sandweiss-Back from the Kairos Center for Religions, Rights, and Social Justice and authors of the just released book “You Only Get What You're Organized to Take” are coming to Pennsylvania for book tour stops that we are utilizing as an organizing opportunity!

The book tour launches what Kairos Center is calling a Survival Revival Organizing Drive which aims to strengthen relationships across communities and networks that are leading survival struggles and unite these efforts towards building a movement to end poverty rooted in and led by the poor, and open to all. In linking up with Kairos Center, Put People First! PA brings our national Medicaid Cut-Offs Organizing Drive to these events. This organizing drive aims to enlist all those who are impacted by a broken healthcare system in the fight for Medicaid for All, and in so doing build the serious and permanent organization of the poor and dispossessed across all lines of division.

PPF-PA’s South Central PA Healthcare Rights Committee is hosting two book tour stops as our region is considered the Bible Belt of Pennsylvania, and is as key in PA today in our movement to abolish poverty as it was in the historic movement to abolish slavery.
